MCL hopes to achieve 127 mt of coal in FY15
26 Jun 2014
June 26: Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL), the second largest coal producer among Coal India (CIL) subsidiaries, is confident of achieving its targeted 127 million tons (mt) of coal in 2014-15, company chairman and managing director, A N Sahay told ICMW.
“We should be able to achieve the target this year. I am quite hopeful,” Sahay said.
He, however, added that the production estimate is based on the assumption of operations “under normal circumstances”.
Production at MCL was impacted last year by some untoward incidents such as a shoot-out at Lakhanpur and closure of Kulda mine following dump collapse.
MCL produced 110.44 mt in 2013-14 against its target of 120 mt.
