MCL hopes to achieve production target in FY15
16 Oct 2014
October 16: With the re-location issues involving some villagers at Hensumal addressed, Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) expects to achieve its production target of 127 million tons (mt) in the current fiscal, a top official told ICMW.
“Our production has peaked up and we are confident of achieving the target this year,” the official said.
MCL has been given a target of producing 127 mt of coal in 2014-15, compared to 110 mt achieved in 2013-14.
During April-September, the company has produced 55.03 mt, marginally higher than 53.80 mt targeted for the period.
Earlier, the land stalemate over relocation of disgruntled villagers at Hensumal had threatened to bring a substantial part of production to a grinding halt. The company had served a deadline of October 31 to the resisting villagers to shift to an alternative site.
