MCL lines up 60 mt capacity for coal washery

June 26: Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) has lined up an ambitious plan to set up coal washeries with a combined capacity of 60 million tons (mt), company CMD A N Sahay told ICMW.
“Within the next 3-4 years, if things move as planned, we will have 60 mt new washing capacity,” Sahay said.
Of this, 40 mt will be on BOM basis and remaining 20 mt on turnkey basis, he added.
The washery projects in the pipeline are: Hingula (10 mt), Basundhara (10 mt), Lakhanpur-I (10 mt), Lakhanpur-II (20 mt), Jagannath (10 mt).
Besides, one spectrum of an 11 mt washery is already built up by APGENCO in Talcher. There are also 3-4 private washeries with a combined capacity of around 10 mt, Sahay said.
