MCL spends Rs 182 crore on CSR till Nov

Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd (CIL), has spent Rs 182.15 crore on various corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects during April-November, 2015.
The major thrust was given on construction of toilets, which is part of the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by the Union government, according to data released by the company.
Among the various heads, health improvement projects (which include construction of toilets) were allotted Rs 169.85 crore, rural development projects Rs 10.31 crore, environmental projects Rs 1.06 crore, education projects Rs 0.78 crore and women empowerment Rs 0.14 crore.
