MMTC to soon float 3-mt imported coal NIT on CIL’s behalf

August 4: MMTC Ltd will soon float a notice inviting tender (NIT) to procure about 3 million tons (mt) imported coal for various clients of Coal India Ltd (CIL), an official told ICMW.

“A few days back, we had given the mandate to MMTC to go ahead with the tender to procure around 3 mt coal for supply to our various power sector consumers,” a top official of CIL said.

“MMTC, in all probability, will float the tender within this week (ending August 8),” the official added.

“The decision to give the mandate was taken based on feedback received from some leading consumers like DVC and other state generation utilities. They have given us an indicative quantity of the imported coal they will purchase through us,” the official added.
