MPGENCO aims to add 1,320 MW capacity by 2018

Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company (MPGENCO) will add 1,320 MW capacity at its Shree Singaji thermal power plant within 2018, a highly placed official at the utility informed ICMW.
The official said that the third and fourth units of the Shree Singaji TPS project, phase II would comprise two 660-MW each. The third and fourth units would be expected to be commissioned around July 2018 and November 2018 respectively.
As per the official’s estimate, 27% of construction work of this Rs 6,500-crore project has been finished.
The Shree Singaji thermal power project of MPGENCO consists of two phases. The first phase consists of 2 units with a generation capacity of 600 MW each. The first unit was commissioned in February 2014 and the second in December 2014. The Union power ministry conferred the mega power project status on it. The required water would be available from the Indira Sagar reservoir on River Narmada. The Gondbahera-Ujjaini coal block, having 532 million tons of reserves, has been allocated for the project.
