MPSMCL gets EC for Marki-Barka project

July 28: The Madhya Pradesh State Mining Corporation Limited (MPSMCL) has received environmental clearance (EC) from the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) for its 1.0 million tons per annum (mtpa) Marki-Barka Underground Coalmine Project in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.

The EC was awarded vide a letter dated July 16, 2014. The Stage - I forest clearance for 294.00 ha of forest land was granted on May 5, 2014.

A communique from the MoEF said the project would come up in an area of 700.00 ha in Singrauli Coalfields.

Marki-Barka project is designed to produce 1.0 mtpa coal of B-F grade at peak rated capacity. The total geological reserve of the block is is 70.22 mt and mineable reserve is 35.13 mt.
