Imports of steam coal via Magdalla Port edged down 6.52% in January 2016 to 342,109 tons from 365,987 tons in December 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
For the first 10 months (April-January) of the current fiscal (2015-16), steam coal imports through the port stood at 4,243,971 tons while 47,94,142 tons had been imported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15).

In January 2016, a volume of 98,099 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 4,950 - Rs 5,155 ($73-$77) per ton, a volume of 1,06,212 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,175 -Rs 3,160 ($32-$47) per ton and 1,37,798 tons from other places while the price range for some were not available.
In December 2015, a volume of 100,000 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,155- Rs 5,283 ($77-$79) per ton, a volume of 2,730 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,980-Rs 3,767 ($45-$56) per ton and 263,257 tons from other places while the price range for some were not available.
