Mahagenco accuses WCL of providing inferior coal

Mahagenco on Wednesday blamed WCL for supplying inferior quality of coal to it. A division bench comprising justice Bhushan Gavai and justice CV Bhadang then asked Mahagenco to file a reply before April 20, and fixed final hearing in the case on April 30.

In his PIL, petitioner Anil Wadpalliwar through Shrirang Bhandarkar contended that due to ongoing tussle between WCL and Mahagenco all consumers are unnecessarily forced to shell out more for power supply. He also claimed that steep hike in generation cost is short supply of domestic coal and import of costly coal by power utilities.
