Mahagenco’s Oct coal import up sharply m-o-m

November 19: The import of steam coal by Maharashtra State Power Generation Co Ltd (MSPGCL), during the month of October 2013 stood at 249,000 tons whereas during the previous month, the imports stood at only 15,000 tons, according to provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) available with ICMW.
In October 2012, MSPGCL’s coal imports stood at nil.
During the first seven months (April-October) of 2013-14, coal imports by MSPGCL stood at 1,123,000 tons while the same stood higher at 1,432,000 tons during the corresponding period of 2012-13, data revealed.
The utility’s imports during the first seven months, however, were only 32.09% of the target of 3,500,000 tons for the period set by CEA.
