Malco, Sterlite float enquiries for imported coal

January 29: Madras Aluminium Co Ltd (Malco) and Sterlite Industries Ltd (Sterlite) have floated separate enquiries to procure a total of around 120,000 tons of Indonesian origin steam coal, industry sources said.

Malco is looking to procure 70,000 tons parcel whereas Sterlite is looking to procure one parcel of 50,000 tons, they said.

The companies are looking to procure coal with minimum calorific value of 5,000 Kcal/kg (GAR), total moisture of 25% (max), ash content of 12% (max).

The closure of the enquiries may take a few days even as both companies plan to close the deal within January, they added.
