Living up to its distinguished track record in coal mining activities, Manuguru area of Singareni Collieries has topped coal production and dispatches among all other coal mines of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) this year.
The Manuguru area of SCCL’s Kothagudem region has achieved coal production and dispatches to the tune of over 6.80 lakh tonnes, registering a growth of 125 per cent in October.
According to SCCL sources, the Prakasham Khani Opencast-II and PK OC-IV in Manuguru area together dispatched coal to an extent of 46,48,277 tonnes through rail, road and ropeways till November 19 in the current financial year. Incidentally, Manuguru is the only area in Singareni collieries to use ropeway for dispatching coal.
Around 1,139 tonnes of coal was dispatched through ropeway to the Heavy Water Plant in Manuguru mandal so far this year, sources added.
Kothagudem area, encompassing the GK OC and the JVR OC-I, had also excelled in its coal production pursuits in October. It dispatched 6,15,869 tonnes of coal as against the set target of 4,56,900 tonnes, last month.
However, Yellendu area, consisting of two OCPs and one underground mine, failed to achieve the stipulated coal production target last month. The three coal mines have produced only 3,78,860 tonnes as against the fixed target of 4,26,000 tonnes in October.
Sources said that heavy rains and some unexpected technical glitches had hampered coal production in Yellendu area.
