Mar steam coal imports via Kandla up 32.28% m-o-m

April 6: Steam coal imports through the port of Kandla stood at 794,989 tons in March, up 32.28% from 600,955 tons imported in February, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

Imports of steam coal through the port during March 2014 stood at 266,967 tons.

Imports of steam coal through the port during FY’15 stood at 8,770,287 tons while the same stood at 5,945,918 in the previous fiscal.

Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Kandla Port in 2014-15 and 2013-14:

In March, 8,000 tons imported from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,225-Rs 6,245 ($99) per ton 381,500 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 1,950-Rs 4,963 ($31-$79) per ton, 329,906 tons arrived from South Africa at a price range of Rs 3,359-Rs 5,959 ($53-$95) per ton and balance 75,583 tons came from United States at a price range of Rs 5,982-Rs 6,84 ($95-$102) per ton.

However, in February, 16,147 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,191-Rs 6,470 ($99-$104) per ton, 198,469 tons from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,169-Rs 4,543 ($35-$73) per ton, 246,579 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,088-Rs 6,296 ($66-$101) and the balance 139,760 tons arrived from United States at a price range of Rs 5,925-Rs 6,318 ($94-$102) per ton.
