March anthracite coal imports via Kolkata up 68.77% m-o-m

April 15: Anthracite coal imports through the port of Kolkata stood at 22,999 tons in March 2014 against a volume of 13,627 tons recorded in February 2014, showing an increase of 68.77%, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, total anthracite coal imports from Kolkata stood at 160,858 tons for the entire financial year of 2013-14 against 81,540 tons reported for the previous fiscal of 2012-13, showing an increase of 97.27%.

In March, 22,759 tons arrived from Ukraine in a price range of Rs 10,896 – Rs 11,459 ($176-$185) per ton while 240 tons came in from China in a range of Rs 26,068 – Rs 21,681 ($414-$344) per ton.
In February 2014, imports comprised 13,483 tons from Ukraine in a price band of Rs 10,177 – Rs 11,339 ($164-$182) per ton and 144 tons from China in a price bracket of Rs 21,548 – 25,945 ($342 – Rs 412) per ton.
