March met coke imports via New Mangalore spurt 96.23% m-o-m

April 16: Met coke imports via New Mangalore Port rose sharply during March 2014 to 94,500 tons, compared to 48,158 tons in February, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Total imports of met coke through New Mangalore Port in 2013-14 stood at 735,220 tons against 86,068 tons recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via New Mangalore Port in 2012-13 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During March 2014, 93,500 tons came from China at a price range of Rs 16,562-Rs 17,726 ($268-$282) per ton, while the balance 1,000 tons arrived from Ukraine at a price of Rs 9,446 ($150-$152) per ton.
However, during February, the entire material came in from China at a price of Rs 17,626 ($283) per ton.
