March steam coal imports via New Mangalore fall 62.98% m-o-m

April 16: Non-coking coal imports through New Mangalore Port during March 2014 fell by 62.98% to 160,711 tons compared to 434,066 tons recorded in February 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In March 2013, non-coking coal imports via the port stood at 421,239 tons.
Total imports of coking coal through New Mangalore Port in 2013-14 stood at 4,098,967 tons against 5,651,973 tons recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via New Mangalore Port in 2012-13 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During March 2014, the entire material came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,483-Rs 5,861 ($73-$95) per ton.
However, during February 2014, 303,759 tons had arrived from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 4,533-Rs 6,239 ($73-$99) per ton while 130,307 tons had come in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,560-Rs 6,164 ($73-$99) per ton.
