Marginal rise in domestic pet coke loading in November

December 30: The loading of petroleum coke (fuel grade) rakes by major Indian refineries in November increased by 4.85% to 108 from 103 in October, according to information available with ICMW.

The increase in loading in November was largely on account of a sharp rise in despatches from the SEZ point of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), India's largest pet coke producer, to 68 rakes from 59 in October even as despatches from its domestic point fell to 9 rakes in November from 13 in October.

Essar Oil's loading fell sharply to 13 rakes from 19 in October and a high of 29 in July this year.

The following table gives the detailed monthly loading of pet coke from various Indian refineries between April and November, 2013 (in number of rakes):

One rake usually carries around 3,600 tons of pet coke.

Of the 77 rakes loaded by RIL in November, 68 were loaded from its SEZ refinery and 9 from DTA.

Of the total 68 rakes originating from the SEZ, 25 went to Shree Cement, 9 each to J K Lakshmi Cement and Aditya Cement, 7 to Vikram Cement, 5  to UltraTech (Wadi), 3 rakes each to Saurashtra Cement and Tata Chemicals, 2 rakes to UltraTech (Rajasthan), and 1 each to UltraTech (Nagda), Hasimara (probably for Bhutan), UltraTech (Bhiwani), J K Cement (Nimhara) and Lafarge Cement.

In, October, of the total 59 rakes from the SEZ, 29 had gone to Shree Cement,  10 to J K Lakshmi Cement, 2 to Tata Chemicals, 3  each to Saurashtra Cement and Aditya Cement, 4 rakes each to Vikram Cement and UltraTech (Wadi- Karnataka), 1 rake each to Ambuja Cement and ACC.

One rake was despatched from the SEZ to Asansol in West Bengal and another to a plant in Jalpaiguri. Names of the both plants are currently not available with ICMW.

Of the 9 rakes loaded from RIL's DTA siding in November, 7 had gone to Binani Cement and 1 each to UltraTech (Raipur) and Birla Cement (Chittor).

In October, of the 13 rakes loaded from RIL's DTA siding, 5 went to Binani Cement, 4 to Prism Cement and 1 rake each to UltraTech (Bhatapara), Birla Cement (Satna), Birla Cement (Chanderia) and J K Cement (Nimhara).

Of the 13 rakes despatched by Essar in November, 3 went to UltraTech (Raipur-Bhatapara), 3 to Managalam Cement, 3 to Aditya Cement, 2 to Ambuja Cement (Rajasthan) and 1 each to Holcim (ACC) (Lakheri) and Kurkunta (Vaikat) of Karnatak.

In October, of the total 19 rakes despatched by Essar, 10 had gone to Shree Cement, 3 to Mangalam Cement, 2 rakes each to ACC and Jaiprakash and 1 rake each to Ambuja Cement and Bhusan Steel.

Of the 9 rakes loaded from BORL's Bina refinery in November, 2 had gone to Heidelberg, 2 to Century cement, 1 each to Maihar Cement, Prism Cement, Holcim (Bargarh of IDCOL), Birla Cement (Satna) and Jay Pee (Panari-Dala).

In October, of the total 8 rakes loaded from BORL-Bina, 3 went to Heidelberg Cement, 2 to Maihar Cement and 1 each to JP (Rewa), Century Cement and Prism Cement.

Of the total 6 rakes loaded from HPCL's Bhatinda refinery, 4 had gone to Ambuja (Himachal) and 2 to Holcim (Gagal).

In October, of the total loading of 4 rakes from HPCL-Bhatinda, 3 had gone to Ambuja Cement (Himachal) and 1 rake to ACC/Holcim (Gagal).

In November, IOCL had commenced rake loading of pet coke from its Koyali refinery and a total of 3 rakes were despatched - one each to Birla Cement (Chittore), Vikram Cement and Vasavadatta Cement (Wadi).
