Marmagoa Dec steam coal imports up 22.58% m-o-m

January 12: Non-coking coal imports through the port of Marmagoa stood at 308,874 tons in December 2014, up sharply by 22.58% as compared to 251,986 tons imported in November, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In December 2013, steam coal imports through the port stood at 74,495 tons.
In the first nine months (April-December) of the current financial year (2014-15), non-coking coal imports through the port stood at 1,829,034 tons while the figure was at 163,195 tons during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via Marmagoa in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

During December 2014, 77,585 tons came in from Australia at a price of Rs 6,914 ($108) per ton while the rest of 231,289 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,798-Rs 5,496 ($77-$86) per ton.
However, in November 2014, 84,831 tons came in from Australia at a price of Rs 6,247 ($101) per ton while the balance 167,155 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,401-Rs 5,576 ($86-$90) per ton.
