Marmagoa Mar steam coal imports rise 15% m-o-m

April 08: Non-coking (steam) coal imports through the port of Marmagoa stood at 223,101 tons down 15.32% from 263,473 tons in February 2015, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In March 2014, imports of steam coal through the port stood at 172,284 tons which means imports in March 2015 were up 29.50% y-o-y.
The total import of steam coal through the port stood at 25,72,418 tons during 12 months of (April-March) of 2014-15, up manifold compared to only 4,89,114 tons imported during the corresponding period of 2013-14, the data revealed.
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via Marmagoa in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

The entire material in March came from South Africa in six consignments in the price range of Rs 4250 to Rs 4,977 ($67 to $79) per ton.
During February, 83,345 tons came from Australia at a price of Rs 5,597 ($171) per ton while the rest of 180,128 tons had come from South Africa in a price range of Rs 4,530-Rs 5,077 ($140-$157) per ton.
