Marmagoa coking coal imports up 84% in Dec m-o-m

January 12: Coking coal imports through the port of Marmagoa rose almost 83.86% to 847,276 tons in December 2014, up 83.86% from a quantum of 460,830 tons reported in November, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In December 2013, the volume of coking coal imports through the port stood at 546,672 tons.
In the first nine months (April-December) of the current financial year (2014-15), coking coal imports through the port stood at 3,956,278 tons as against 2,557,656 tons recorded during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Marmagoa in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In December 2014, out of the total quantity, 136,608 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 7,370-Rs 8,849 ($115-$142) per ton whereas the balance 77,910 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 8,843 ($141) per ton.
However, during November 2014, 392,331 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 7,072-Rs 8,529 ($113-$138) per ton whereas the balance 68,499 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 7,502 ($121) per ton.
