Marmagoa’s December steam coal imports shot up 92.50% m-o-m
Non-coking coal imports via Marmagoa Port stood at 6,38,069 tons in December 2015, resulting in a sharp rise of 92.50% in comparison to 331,468 tons imported during the previous month, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
For the first Nine months (April-December) of the current fiscal (2015-16), non-coking coal imports via Marmagoa Port stood at 3,459,861 tons while 1,829,034 tons had been imported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15).
However, 308,874 tons of non-coking coal was imported via the port in December 2014.

During December, out of the total imported quantity, 78,281 tons came from Australia at a price of Rs 5,835 ($87) per ton and 159,500 tons from South Africa in a price range of Rs 3,010-Rs 4,436 ($45-$66) per ton.
During November, out of the total imported quantity, 171,968 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,167- Rs 5,714 ($79-$86) per ton and 159,500 tons from South Africa in a price range of Rs 3,823-Rs 4,190 ($58-$64) per ton.
