May anthracite coal imports via Kolkata drop sharply m-o-m

June 6: Anthracite coal imports through the port of Kolkata stood at a mere 2,805 tons in May 2014 against 38,549 tons reported in April 2014, showing a manifold decrease, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In May 2013, 18,687 tons had been imported.
Imports for the first two months of the current fiscal are at 41,354 tons while total anthracite coal imports from Kolkata stood at 160,858 tons for the entire financial year of 2013-14.
Following is the break-up of anthracite coal imports via Kolkata Port in 2013-14 & 2014-15:

In May, 1,080 tons arrived from China in a band of Rs 21,080 - 31,059 ($351-$420) per ton while 1,725 tons came in from Ukraine in a range of Rs 7,891 - Rs 12,280 ($131-202) per ton.
In April, 19,075 tons arrived from Ukraine in a range of Rs 8,808 - Rs 8,859 ($156) per ton, 18,900 tons from Russia at a unit price of Rs 8,856 ($143) while 574 tons came in from China in a range of Rs 25,216 - Rs 26,712 ($415-439)
