May output of Indian captive coal blocks up 20%

June 30: The coal production from the captive blocks in India rose almost 20% to 5.59 million tons (mt) in May 2014 compared to 4.66 mt produced in corresponding peiro dof 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
On a month-on-month basis production from captive blocks during the month increased by 32.15% from 4.23 mt produced in April, the data revealed.
During the first two months of 2014-15, coal production from the captive blocks stood at 11.43 mt up from 9.47 mt in the same period of last fiscal.
The production target for the captive blocks for the month of May stood at 5.69 mt, which means the actual production from the captive coal blocks was 98.24% of the targeted production during the month.
The annual production target for 2014-15 of the captive blocks stands at 68.25 mt.
