May shortfall in coal receipts by Indian power utilities at 1.382 mt

June 20: Total shortfall in coal receipts by Indian power utilities during May 2014 stood at 1.382 million tons (mt) whereas in April 2014, it stood higher at 2.03 mt, according to provisional data made available to ICMW by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
In May 2014, total receipts stood at 43.186 mt while the requirement stood at 44.568 mt, data revealed. Out of the total receipts in May, 32.448 mt came from domestic sources Coal India Limited (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), while imported coal receipts stood at 7.816 mt. A volume of 2.922 mt came from other sources, as per the data.
On the other hand, total receipts during the month of April stood at 43.261 mt against a total requirement of 45.291 mt.
During April, out of the total receipts, 33.193 mt came from domestic sources CIL and SCCL while imported coal receipts stood at 7.180 mt whereas 2.888 mt came from other sources, as per the data.
