May steam coal imports via Paradip up 42.98 % m-o-m

June 10: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip rose 42.98% to 619,987 tons in May 2014 as against a volume of 433,614 tons in April 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In March steam coal import through Paradip Port stood at 318,344 tons.
Steam coal import in May 2013, stood at 646,327 tons.
In the first two months of the current financial year (2014-15) steam coal import through the port stood at 1,053,601 tons, from 1,164,906 tons imported through the port during the same period of 2013-14.

In May, 2014, a total of 482,941 tons of coal were imported from Indonesia through the port at a price band of Rs 2,353-Rs 5,034 ($39-$83) per ton, 82,196 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,688-Rs 6,001 ($93-$99) a ton and 58,850 tons of coal were imported from other sources at a price range of Rs 3,733 or $62 per ton.
In April, imports included 384,489 tons from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,725 – Rs 5,225 ($45-86) per ton and 49,125 tons from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 5,373 ($89).
