Met coke exported from Kolkata Port in Feb
10 Mar 2014
March 10: A small quantity of 80 tons of metallurgical coke was exported through the eastern Indian port of Haldia to Saudi Arabia and Thailand during the month of February.
According to information available with ICMW, some coke makers are now trying to look at the export market in view of weak price conditions prevailing in the domestic market.
Generally, metallurgical coke is imported through Haldia Port by steel plants like Tata Steel and others, but it has been found that during the past 3-4 months, small quantities of the material are being exported as well.
In November 2013 also, around 85 tons of met coke was exported through the port, of which 13 tons were hard coke and 72 tons foundry grade coke.
In February, 24 tons went to Saudi Arabia at the assessed price of Rs 25,551 per ton, and 56 tons to Thailand at an assessed price range of Rs 21,928-Rs 21,953 per ton.
