Met coke imports via Chennai at 36 tons in January

February 16: A mere 36 tons of metallurgical coke were imported via Chennai Port in January 2015 against nil volumes in December 2014, as per provisional information available with ICMW.

In January 2015, a consignment arrived from China at a unit price of Rs 13,712 ($220).

Met coke imports in November 2014 stood at a mere 3 tons when the single consignment arrived from the UK at a unit price of Rs 51,978 ($ 840).

There had been no imports of met coke through Chennai from August-October, 2014.

In July, met coke imports through the port were at a mere 94 tons while there had been no imports of the material between April-June, 2014.

In July, the material arrived from China at a unit price of Rs 19,099 ($318).
