Met coke imports via Kolkata Port down 5.08% m-o-m in Jan

February 12: Met coke imports through the port of Kolkata dropped 5.08% to 20,998 tons in January 2014 against a volume of 22,122 tons reported in the previous month, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, total met coke imports via Kolkata Port stood at 394,505 tons during the first 10 months of 2013-14 compared to 728,043 tons recorded during the corresponding period of FY’13, showing a drop of 45.81% over the 10-month period compared to the same time span in the previous fiscal.
Met coke imported in January 2013 stood at 30,956 tons, while total met coke imports in 2012-13 stood at 849,348 tons.

In January 2014, 15,000 tons of met coke arrived from Russia in a price band of Rs 15,841 - Rs 16,263 ($259), 5,000 from Japan at a unit price of Rs 17,288 ($275) and 998 tons from China at Rs 17,406 ($277) per ton.
In December, 17,813 tons arrived from Russia in a range of Rs 15,867 - Rs 16,367 ($255-$259) per ton, 3,286 tons arrived from Ukraine at a unit price of Rs 14,545 ($231) and 900 tons from China at Rs 17,516 (281) per ton, among others.
