Met coke imports via Kolkata rise 38.08% in Oct m-o-m

November 11: Met coke imports through the port of Kolkata rose by 38.08% to 23,953 tons in October 2013 against 17,346 tons reported in September 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, total met coke imported via Kolkata port stood at 333,658 tons during the first seven months of 2013-14 compared to 582,819 tons recorded during the corresponding period of FY’13.
Met coke imported in October 2012 stood at 90,856 tons while total met coke imports in 2012-13 stood at 849,348 tons.

In October, 17,121 tons arrived from China in a price band of Rs 13,958-Rs 17,978 ($218.77-$283.37) per ton, 32,000 tons arrived from Japan at a unit price of Rs 43,173 ($676-$690) and 6,800 tons arrived from Russia at a price band of Rs 15077-Rs 15,465 ($242-$247) per ton.
In September, 2013, however, 4,846 tons were imported from China at a unit price of Rs 17,391($ 273) per ton while 5,000 tons of low ash met coke was imported from Japan at Rs 18,688 ($ 296) per ton and 7,500 tons of met coke was imported from Russia at a price range of Rs 15,465- Rs 16,421($242) per ton.
