Met coke imports via Paradip decline 10.76% in March m-o-m

April 8: Imports of met coke through the port of Paradip in March 2014 dropped 10.76% to 101,480 tons in March 2014 against a volume of 113,722 tons reported in February, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of met coke via the port during the entire financial year of 2013-14 stood at 736,796 tons compared to 570,057 tons imported in the previous fiscal of 2012-13.
Consequently, imports of the material in the last fiscal showed a 29.25% increase over the previous financial year.
Met coke imports in March 2013 stood at a mere 34,553 tons.

In March 2014, a volume of 76,150 tons arrived from China in a price band of Rs 16,096 – Rs 22,263 ($261-$361) per ton, 24,280 tons from Ukraine at a unit price of Rs 10,636 ($169) and 1,050 tons from Colombia at a unit price of Rs 20,680 ($335).
In February 2014, met coke imports included 31,277 tons from Australia though the unit price was not available, 23,420 tons from China in a price band of Rs 15,192 – Rs 16,849 ($244-$268), 11,820 tons from Japan at Rs 18,068 ($287) per ton, 15,000 tons from Russia at a unit price of Rs 16,440 ($261) and 32,205 tons Ukraine at Rs 9,491 ($151) per ton.
