Met coke imports via Paradip down 6.34% in Jan

February 10: Imports of met coke through the port of Paradip in December 2013 dropped 6.34% to 51,406 tons in January 2014 against 54,888 tons reported in December, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of met coke via the port during the first 10 months of the current fiscal stood at 521,594 tons compared to 515,505 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total met coke imports in the last financial year of 2012-13 stood at 570,057 tons.
Following are the details of met coke imports via Paradip in 2012-13 and 2013-14:

In January, 16,947 tons arrived from Italy in a price band of Rs 13,967 – Rs 14,302 (224-$230) per ton and 34,458 tons from China in a range of Rs 17,503 – Rs 15,192 ($281-$244) per ton.
In December, however, met coke imports included 27,605 tons from China in a price range of Rs 16,463 – Rs 16,944 ($264-$272) per ton, 21,000 tons from Colombia at a unit price of Rs 20,148 ($$318), 5,686 tons from Ukraine at Rs 14,661 ($235) and 597 tons from Indonesia at Rs 16,944 ($272) per ton.
