Met coke imports via Paradip drop 46.11% in Oct m-o-m

November 7: Import of met coke through the port of Paradip dropped 46.11% to 1,467 tons in October 2013 against 2,722 tons in September 2013, as per information available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of met coke via the port during the first seven months of the current fiscal stood at 274,653 tons compared to 319,683 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total met coke imports in the last financial year of 2012-13 stood at 570,057 tons.

In October 2013, the entire consignment arrived from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 10,231 (4160).
However, in September 2013, the entire material came from Columbia at a price of Rs 13,001 ($194) per ton whereas in August 2013, met coke imports from the port included 28,058 tons from China in a price band of Rs 16,740 – Rs 32,743 ($272-$501) per ton and 10,000 tons from Japan at Rs 16,639 ($279) per ton.
