Met coke imports via Paradip rise manifold in Oct m-o-m

November 25: The imports of met coke through the port of Paradip in October 2013 hot up by a huge 363% to 109,781 tons against 23,722 tons recorded in September of the same month, according to revised provisional data for both the months available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of met coke via the port during the first seven months of the current fiscal stood at 403,967 tons compared to 319,683 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total met coke imports in the last financial year of 2012-13 stood at 570,057 tons.

In October 2013, 95,314 tons arrived from China in a price band of Rs 11,500-Rs 16,743 ($185-$268) per ton, 13,000 arrived from Russia in a unit price of Rs 15,931 ($225) per ton and 1,467 tons arrived from South Africa at Rs 10,231($160) per ton.
However, in September 2013, the entire material came from Columbia at a price of Rs 13,002 ($194) per ton.
