Met coke imports via Paradip show sharp 61.67% drop in Aug

September 27: Import of met coke through the port of Paradip dropped 61.67% to 38,058 tons in August 2013 against 99,311 tons recorded in July 2013, as per information available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of met coke imports via the port during the first five months of the current fiscal stood at 270,464 tons compared to 231,218 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total met coke imports in the last financial year of 2012-13 stood at 570,057 tons.

August 2013 met coke imports from the port included 28,058 tons from China in a price band of Rs 16,740 – Rs 32,743 ($272-$501) per ton and 10,000 tons from Japan at Rs 16,639 ($279) per ton.
In July 2013, however, 77,595 tons arrived from China in a price band of Rs 15,564 – Rs 16,921 ($257-$286) per ton, 20,800 tons arrived from Japan in a price band of Rs 16,639 – Rs 18,176 ($279-$300) per ton while around 916 tons arrived from South Africa at Rs 16,993 ($285) per ton.
