Met coke imports via Paradip show sharp drop in Sept m-o-m

October 10: Import of met coke through the port of Paradip dropped sharply to 2,722 tons in September 2013 against 38,058 tons recorded in August 2013, as per information available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of met coke via the port during the first six months of the current fiscal stood at 273,186 tons compared to 293,522 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total met coke imports in the last financial year of 2012-13 stood at 570,057 tons.

In September 2013, the entire material came from Columbia at a price of Rs 13,001 ($194) per ton whereas in August 2013, met coke imports from the port included 28,058 tons from China in a price band of Rs 16,740 - Rs 32,743 ($272-$501) per ton and 10,000 tons from Japan at Rs 16,639 ($279) per ton.
