Met coke imports via Paradip spurt 121% in February m-o-m

March 21: Imports of met coke through the port of Paradip in February 2014 spurted 121% to 113,722 tons against 51,406 tons recorded in January 2014, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of met coke via the port during the first 11 months of the current fiscal stood at 635,316 tons compared to 535,505 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total met coke imports in the last financial year of 2012-13 stood at 570,057 tons.

In February 2014, met coke imports included 31,277 tons from Australia though the unit price was not available, 23,420 tons from China in a price band of Rs 15,192 – Rs 16,849 ($244-$268), 11,820 tons from Japan at Rs 18,068 ($287) per ton, 15,000 tons from Russia at a unit price of Rs 16,440 ($261) and 32,205 tons Ukraine at Rs 9,491 ($151) per ton.
In January, 16,947 tons arrived from Italy in a price band of Rs 13,967 - Rs 14,302 (224-$230) per ton and 34,458 tons from China in a range of Rs 17,503 - Rs 15,192 ($281-$244) per ton.
