Met coke imports via Vizag drop 75.46% in Aug m-o-m

September 11: Met coke imports in August 2014, through the port of Vizag, dropped sharply by 75.46% to 15,752 tons against a volume of 64,203 tons recorded in July, as per provisional data available with ICMW.

In August, all the consignments arrived from China in a band of Rs 12,185 – Rs 14,979 ($197 – 245) per ton.

In July, 34,130 tons arrived from China at unit prices of Rs 13,130 – Rs 12,384 ($216-204), while the balance 30,073 tons arrived from Ukraine in a range of Rs 12,211 – Rs 13,294 ($203-219) per ton.

It may be noted that there were no imports of this material through the port between February-May, 2014. However, in January, the volume was at 4,535 tons when 4,330 tons had arrived from Italy in a price band of Rs 14,583-Rs 14,701- ($234-$236) per ton while the balance 205 tons had arrived from China at a unit price of Rs 19,161 ($308).

In June, the entire volume arrived from China at a unit price of Rs 13,789 ($228).
