Mineral production value up 5% in April-November

December 18: The total value of India’s mineral production for metallic ferrous and industrial minerals (excluding fuel, minor and atomic minerals) increased by 5% during April-November, 2014 over the year-ago period, according to official data.
The total value of production stood at Rs 31,179 crore during April-November, 2014 against Rs 29,602 crore during the same period last year, the data showed.
In November 2014, the value of production was estimated at Rs 3,852 crore against Rs 3,844 crore reported in the same month last year.
During November 2014, mineral investigation by Geological Survey of India (GSI) and Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd (MECL) surpassed the monthly targets.
Large scale mapping by GSI stood at a yearly high of 1,047.1 sq km against the target of 900 sq km. MECL achieved total drilling of 31,811 m against a target of 26,500 m.
