Ministry to review status of SPVs/JVs with states

December 9: The Ministry of Coal (MoC) will review the current status of the formation of special purpose vehicles/joint venture companies amongst those state government companies/corporations that could be allocated coal blocks jointly for end-use (power plants and mining).
A meeting to review the status will be convened by the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, on December 15 in New Delhi, an official said.
The chief secretaries of a total of 15 states – Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Karnataka, Bihar, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Telegana – have been asked to nominate a representative to attend the meeting, the official said.
The corporations and companies of the state governments as well as central public sector companies are allowed to participate in the auction of coal blocks under Rule 4 of the “Auction by Competitive Bidding of Coal Mine Rules, 2012”.
