June 19: A mixed trend prevailed in international coal markets wherein prices of South African standard coal continued to firm up while others remained subdued in absence of demand, market sources said.
The firmness in standard South African coal prices was witnessed on the back of a rise in paper trading even as number of enquiries continued to remain thin, they said.
Some Indian power companies are believed to be entering into deals for Indonesian coal of low calorific value as they found prices quite attractive, they added.
