March 18: Spot coal prices moved both ways in international markets on March 17 as they inched up a bit for some varieties and softened for others, industry sources said.
A marginal drop was witnessed in non-standard South African coal of 5,500 Kcal/kg NAR on reports of ample availability whereas standard material prices inched up by $0.30 per ton on uncertainties over supply resumption from the Drummond facility in Colombia.
A soft trend was witnessed in the Indonesian market as well, on low enquiries from Indian companies despite reports of operation stoppage at a few mines producing low-grade coal on falling prices.
