MoC asks producing coal, lignite block allocatees to furnish affidavit

September 3: After seeking the status report of their mines and end-use projects, the Ministry of Coal (MoC) on September 3 asked the allocatees of 46 coal blocks and 15 lignite blocks to furnish affidavit to confirm the information provided by them latest by September 4, 2014.
“I am directed to request you to furnish an affidavit…confirming that the information supplied by you in response to Ministry’s letter…is true and correct; to the Ministry of Coal latest by 4th September, 2014 (forenoon), positively,” the Coal Ministry said in a letter dated September 3.
It further added that, “It may please be noted that the information supplied may form part of the affidavit to be filed by the Government before the Hon’ble Supreme Court and therefore furnishing any misleading or false information may invite penal action as per law.”
The letter was sent separately to allocatees of 40 coal blocks which have become operational, 6 blocks which are likely to come under production during the year 2014-15 and 15 producing lignite blocks.
Earlier, the Ministry vide its letter on September 1 had sought report on 46 coal blocks from companies by September 3 for furnishing the current status of the mines to the Supreme Court.
