MoC deallocates Kesla North coal block

03 Jan 2014

January 3: The Ministry of Coal (MoC), Government of India, has issued a de-allocation notice to Rathi Udyog Limited, de-allocating the Kesla North coal block in the state of Chhattisgarh, according to information available to ICMW.

The block was allocated to the company in August 2008 under the condition that the company has to commence coal production within 36 months (42 months if the area falls in forest land) in case of open cast mine and in 48 months (54 months if the area falls under forest land) in case of underground mine from the date of preparation of the geological report.

However, as the company failed to develop the block within the stipulated time, it has been deallocated, the notice said.
