MoC extends NIA for block allocation to power cos

January 10: The Ministry of Coal (MoC) has extended the period of the Notice Inviting Application (NIA) for the allocation of coal blocks to companies awarded a power project (on the basis of competitive bids for tariff) till January 25 (4.00 pm), said an official release. 

Earlier, the deadline was January 10, 2014 (4.00 p.m).

The release said, the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) has preliminarily classified four blocks under offer as "non-violate". However, the MoEF has clarified that the final report on these blocks is yet to be taken.

The allocation of blocks would be done under Rule 5 of the Auction by Competitive Bidding of Coal Mines Rules, 2012.
