MoC open to suggestions on new mining technologies

17 Feb 2014

February 17: The Ministry of Coal (MoC) is open to suggestions from the industry for the adoption of new technologies that may help address the shortcomings facing the country in raising its coal production, a senior official from the ministry said.

"Technology is the only answer to various hurdles being faced by the mining sector in the country. Options are available but selection of a technology depends on our specific requirement," the official said on the sidelines of the International Mining, Exploration, Mineral Processing Technology, Metals & Machinery Exhibition (IME) 2014 which was held in Kolkata on February 13-16.

"The coal ministry is open to inputs from the industry in this regard," the official said. He also welcomed joint initiatives by Indian industry along with foreign collaborators in developing suitable machinery that will suit Indian conditions.

Apart from production related issues, he invited suggestions for clean coal technologies which will help address pollution issues.
