MoC sets up IMC panel to vet mining bid applications

May 14; The MoC has set up an inter-ministerial committee (IMC) for considering applications received under Rule 5 of the Auction by Competitive Bidding of Coal Mines Rule, 2012, according to a ministry release.

This panel will consider the applications received and, after assessing their eligibility and comparative evaluation, submit its recommendations to the Centre for the latter's consideration.

The release further said the committee may also deliberate and recommend the general principles/guidelines on the above issues and evolve a procedure for conducting its business for the above purposes.

Meet deferred: Meanwhile, the 5th meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee to consider issues related to supply of coal to certain end-use plants, which was to be held on May 12, 2014, has been further postponed, for which no date has been announced yet.
