MoC slaps show-cause notice to 18 more companies

January 1: The Ministry of Coal (MoC) has issued show–cause notice to 18 more companies including Coal India Limited, Mahagenco, Madhya Pradesh State Mining Corporation Limited and ACC Cement and sought explanation from them for the slow progress in the development of allocated coal blocks, according to official releases issued by the ministry.

The companies that faced show-cause notices were asked to “explain” the delay in the progress of blocks.

Following are the list of the companies, coal blocks allocated to them and the states in which the coal blocks are located.

The ministry has further asked the companies to reply to the notices within 20 days of the issue of the notice.

ICMW had earlier reported on December 26 that MoC has issued show–cause notices to eight companies for similar reason. These companies were asked to explain their position by January 13, 2014.

Hence, as on December 31, 2013, show-cause notices have been slapped on 26 companies.
