MoEFCC Green nod to 7 ECL mines in West Bengal

April 1: The Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (MoEFCC) has granted environmental clearances (EC) to a group of 7 mines (cluster 8) in the Burdwan district of West Bengal to Eastern Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited.
All mines in cluster 8 have a normative production capacity of 1.53 million tons per annum (mtpa) and a peak rated production of 2.75 mtpa.
From these mines coal linkages have been provided to eight different power stations, including power plants.
The EC was granted in a letter dated March 19.
Total cost of the project is Rs 315.11 crore.
