Monnet’s expansion plans depend on outcome of the upcoming coal e-auction

January 1: All the expansion plans that Monnet Ispat & Energy Limited (MIEL) has at present are dependent on the upcoming coal block e-auctions as the company will review its expansion plans and workout the consumption quantity only after the coal block auctions, Amitabh S. Mudgal, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Corporate Affairs, MIEL told ICMW.

“Our current expansion plan includes setting up of 660 MW power unit at Angul (presently 1,050 MW) thereby taking the total generation capacity to 1,710 MW,” Mudgal said.

“We also plan to increase our sponge iron manufacturing capacity from 0.5 million tons per annum (mtpa) to 1 mtpa at Raigarh, he added.
