Mormugao Nov steam coal imports down 20% m-o-m

December 12: Non-coking coal imports through the port of Mormugao stood at 251,986 tons in November 2014, down sharply by 20.28% as compared to 316,078 tons imported in October, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In November 2013, steam coal imports through the port stood at 88,700 tons.
In the first eight months (April-November) of the current financial year (2014-15), non-coking coal imports through the port stood at 1,520,160 tons while the figure was at 88,700 tons during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via Mormugao in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In November 2014, 84,831 tons came in from Australia at a price of Rs 6,247 ($101) per ton while the rest of 167,155 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,401-Rs 5,576 ($86-$90) per ton.
However, during the month of October 2014, the entire material came in from Australia in a price range of Rs 6,208-Rs 8,590 ($100-$138) per ton.
